Crusaders are off to Inver Park on Wednesday night (7.45pm) to play Larne in the Semi Final of the Toalsbet.com Co. Antrim Shield Semi Final. Crusaders will be looking to get through to their first final under Declan Caddell while Larne are going for “five in a row” in a competition they have made their own.
Crusaders go into this game after a commanding 3-1 win over Loughgall in the Premiership on Saturday. It should be a case of more of the same and if the squad that played on Saturday have stayed fit there will be little change to the line up. Ross Clarke though should return to the squad though after suspension and may be listed on the bench at least. Others still have niggles but they are being managed and should make it. Great performances all over the pitch will fill manager and supporters with real hope these last few weeks and the desire is it carries on tonight and going forward. Declan will look to the performance at Inver just a few weeks ago when we where the better side in a 1-1 draw and will draw on that as motivation to winning and being in the Shield Final next January.
Larne came through another European defeat last week to win in the Premiership on Sunday afternoon and Tieran Lynch will assess his squad also before namimg his line up. He is on record saying that they have a problem defenisvely with centre backs out and they now also have Andy Ryan out after a hamstring injury last week but such is the depth of their “highly financed squad” their will be ready replacements to take over. Larne will also have one eye on a massive Premiership game on Saturday night against Linfield so they do have a lot to juggle at the minute.. Larne have not been the potent force they have been in recent times and Crusaders could capitalise on their busy schedule and get a result.
