Glentoran v Crusaders . Sports Direct Premiership. 29th August

28th Aug 2023

Crusaders finish the first month of games in the Sports Direct Premiership with a short trip to East Belfast to play Glentoran at The Oval in the rearranged game from Saturday week past that was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Crusaders remain unbeaten with four wins in four while Glentoran have started with three wins and a loss so this game means a lot to both sides with regards to league positions so early in the campaign.

Crusaders are in great form but are very aware Tuesday nights game will be the toughest challenge so far this season. They will be of course be without Jimmy Callacher who was sadly stretchered off during Saturday 4-0 win over Newry City but we could see Josh Robinson or Rory McKeown coming in as a replacement for this game. If everyone reports fit there will be little change to the starting XI such is the rich vein of form they are in but if Stephen and the management team think a tweak is needed they could a change. Ben Kennedy scored another spectacular goal on Saturday to add to his four he scored last Tuesday so he will be buzzing to start while Adam Lecky hit the net twice against Newry City and will be looking to add to that tally if selected.

Glentoran will be looking to inflict Crusaders first defeat of the season but they also know that defeat will leave them off the pace at the top so they will also be wary. Warren Feeneys side have only scored five goals in their opening four games with Jay Donnelly scoring two of them so he will be a player to watch. Fuad Sule is another key player while Bobby Burns is another to be watched. Glentoran will be up for this but Crusaders will have the homework done so we are all set for a potential cracker of a game.

Your support has been crucial to us and Tuesday night is no different. The team talk about your backing after each game and they appreciate each of you.
