Glenavon v Crusaders. Saturday 22nd February. Sports Direct Premiership

22nd Feb 2025

Crusaders are off down the M1 on Saturday to Mourneview Park and a resurgent Glenavon are the hosts (3pm) Crusaders will look to build on recent form as key players return while Glenavon have turned a corner under manager Paddy McLaughlin and are pushing for a top six finish as the split fixtures get closer. A recipe then for a good game between two sides who are on “top form” and both eager for three points.

Declan will be pleased with returning squad members and with the “fit count” getting higher each week the squad looks stronger each game.and the results are starting to come. With that strong panel once again we will maybe see a reshuffle in the starting XI giving Robbie Weir, Jordan Stewart or even Harry Franklin a starting spot while resting others or filling in for players suspended. Playing Saturdays has also helped the team and it has given the management team a chance to work on tactics during training so the players are ready to go against whoever they meet. The carrot of moving into third place on their own should Dungannon Swifts slip up will be reason enough to go for a win.

Glenavon will be looking to get back to winning again after the late draw against Larne on Tuesday night. after five wins in a row previously in the Premiership. It has been nothing short of a miracle how Paddy McLaughlin has turned his side around since becoming manager and they could break into the top six on the form they are in. Glenavon though will know they can only take it a game at a time and Crusaders will be formidable opponents and not taken lightly. Players to watch are Michael O'Connor and David McDaid while ex Crusaders player Matthew Snoddy could line up against his old side if selected.

So all set and we want you with us at Mourneview Park in the stands giving your vocal backing. Go to www.glenavonfc.com and get your ticket now and be part of the 12th man. Get behind the team vocally and with you we can get back up the road with three points. C'mon the Crues.
