It is with great sadness Crusaders Football Club has learnt pf the untimely passing of ex manager Ian Rusell. Ian would be better remembered by a particular generation of the Crusaders family but his name has been mentioned many times at numerous events, lunches and dinners over the years and is still fondly thought of.
Iam managed the Club from 1979 to 1983 and took Crusaders to the 1980 Irish Cup Final where we unfortunately lost 2-0 to Linfield. He also led us into Europe in 1980 when we played Newport County in the European Cup Winners Cup drawing 0-0 at Seaview and losing 4-0 in Wales.
On behalf of the Crusaders Chairman Ronnie Millar wishes to offer deepest condolences and sympathies to Ians family at this sad time and asks that we all keep the Russell family and extended family in our thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and months.
