Curtain Closes On Season With Player Award Night At Seaview

15th May 2023

On Saturday night the final curtain fell on Crusaders 2022-23 season with the annual awards night at Seaview. It is a night that supporters clubs, players, management and fellow supporters gather to celebrate the season just finished and pride of place went to the Samuel Gelstons Irish Whiskey Irish Cup that we so magnificently won the previous Sunday.

The main winner on the night was Philip Lowry who collected all the Player of The Year awards from the management, board and all the supporters clubs bar one and he also carried off the Golden Boot award for his record haul of goals on a personal level. Philip also set a new record for being the first player ever to win the 1st Glengormleys Player of The Year award three times and the Club are extremely proud of that honour. Billy Joe Burns won the other Player of The Year award while Jordan Forsythe won the Goal of the Season for his long range effort against Newry City and carried off a sponsors prize for the same goal. Rory McKeown, Josh Robinson, Johnny Tuffey and Jarlath O'Rourke also received awards. The Reserves where also honoured with Jay Boyd and Corrie Burns both winning. The 1st Newtownabbey also gave manager Stephen Baxter an award in recognition of 900 games in charge.

The packed room celebrated each award in a raucous manner and left at the end of the night in great form after a superb evening.

We would like to thank 1st Newtownabbey Crusaders Supporters Club, 1st Glengormley Crusaders Supporters Club, Ian McDonald Crusaders Supporters Club, North Belfast Crusaders Supporters Club and the Grove Crusaders Supporters Club for their attendance and for handing out their awards.

We would also like to thank Innov8, E&H Services, Ronnie Crawley International and Fonacab for their awards on the night and it is greatly appreciated your input at the award ceremony and long may it continue.

We hope everyone has enjoyed the season and on behalf of the Board, Players and Management can we thank each and everyone one of you for your support this season. You stepped it up several gears and the lads appreciated it on the pitch. Have a great few weeks off and we look forward to seeing you all on our European travels.
