Crusaders v Newry City. Danske Bank Premiership. 14th January

13th Jan 2023

Crusaders get the chance to get to winning ways right away when they play Newry City at Seaview on Saturday (3pm) in the Danske Bank Premiership. Beaten 4-2 on Tuesday night by Glenavon the squad got rid of that ghost in training on Thursday night and are ready to go again. Newry City are also looking a win after a 2-1 defeat to Coleraine last time out in a game they feel they should have got something from.

Stephen Baxter told the his side exactly how he felt after Tuesdays game and hopefully they will respond positively when the referees whistle blows on Saturday. We wait too see who starts but new loan signing Cameron Stewart could get some game time in the centre of defence alongside Josh Robinson or Daniel Larmour. Adam Lecky may come back into the squad after picking up a slight knock against Dergview while Chris Hegarty could be missing after limping off against Glenavon.

Newry City currently sit 10th in the Premiership and Darren Mullen will want an improvement to ease relegation worries. City gave Crusaders a real scare back in August at Newry Showgrounds but Crusaders ran out comfortable winners in November at Seaview. They have signed Dylan Sloan and Matty Lusty on loan from Larne for the rest of the season and both should be in the squad for this game.

Crusaders and Newry City have met twice this season with Crusaders winning both
