Crusaders v Linfield. Tuesday 8th October. Toalsbet.com Co.Antrim Shield Quarter Final

8th Oct 2024

Next for Crusaders is a Quarter Final tie in the Toalsbet.com Co. Antrim Shield at Seaview on Tuesday night against Linfield (7.45pm) It will be a nice distraction from the hot and heavy opening of the Premiership and we should see an open and fast paced game as they look to proceed to the Semi Finals next month. If it is anything like the Final they played in 2019 then we are in for a cracker!!!

Declan Caddell has it on record that he wants to win trophies and will be fielding teams to do just that so we can expect the XI that start this game to be very very strong. A gutsy 2-1 win over Coleraine last Saturday in the League was a great lead up to this one and after a recap on injuries and niggles we may see little change in the personnel. Man of the match on Saturday Harry Franklin should retain his spot but we will be without Stewart Nixon who suffered an injury. Winning goal scorer from Saturday Jordan Stewart should partner up fron with Kieran Offord whilst the midfield and defence should stay the same. Crusaders defeated Knockbreda 6-2 at Seaview to reach this stage.

Linfield will be looking to come back from a “Derby Night” defeat on Friday and it is important Crusaders are prepared to deal with that. Linfield though will not let that distract them as they focus on the game. They like Crusaders have several injury worries and David Healy will assess his squad before naming his XI. Thay are strong across the pitch and their target men to be watched are Joel Cooper and Ethan McGee. Linfield defeated Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park to get to this stage.
