Crusaders Through In Steel & Sons Cup

17th Aug 2024

Crusaders Reserves made it into the third round of the Steel & Sons Cup today after a 3-3 win over Queens University at Seaview. The side included Mal Smith who played for 45 minutes and also Harry Jewitt-White who played the whole game as he ramps up his fitness levels.

The young Reserves had most of the first half and where rewarded when Ryan Donnelly curled a beautiful right foot shot into the net after a good build up on 24 minutes. The side kept at and never really let Queens University into the game and went in at half time deservedly 1-0 ahead.

The second half was only three minutes old when Karter Bond doubled Crusaders Reserves goals with a well drilled shot past Neil Shields from a good pass by Harry Jewitt-White to set it up. On 64 minutes Karter Bond got his second and Crusaders Reserves third when he dinked a lovely shot over the advancing Neil Shields and it was 3-0 to the Reserves. Queens University rallied and scored two goals in quick succession on the 85th and 86th minute through Dan Mairs and Jake Gorman respectively. Crusaders Reserves stood strong in the remaining minutes and time added on and on the whistle had earned the right into the third round.

Well done lads and onwards you go.
