Crusaders Strikers FDC Help NI U15's Win Tournament

6th Oct 2022

? Quick round up on some of our Crues girls who were part of an NI U15 squad away playing in an UEFA Development Tournament in Bulgaria, where they topped their mini league table with 3 out of 3 wins.

➡️ Matchday 1 v Montenegro. Two first half goals from our own Mia Reilly and Sophie Hutchinson secured a 2-0 win. Crues player Emma Brown picking up POTM

➡️ Matchday 2 v Bulgaria. The girls went 1-0 up through Crues player Sophie Hutchinson playing against gale force winds. The hosts scored a 30 yard strike just before the break. Jessica McGuinness secured the 3 points with a minute remaining with a 25 yards free kick into the top corner. A good performance coupled with the winning goal secured her POTM

➡️ Matchday 3 v Faroe Islands. It’s was a slow first 5 minutes, and a big save from goalie Abbie Smith kept the girls all square. 2 goals in the second half from Sophie Hutchinson and Jessica McGuinness secured the 2-0 win, and 1st place for the girls, POTM was Crues player Kayliann Clayton

Crues defender Caitlin Carlisle captained the side throughout the tournament.

Galaxy player Sophie Pollock was named as Player of the Tournament, for her assured, neat and tidy performances in the DCM role!

Super work from all the girls involved; great experience for everyone!!

Credit to all the girls involved in the squad for three super results ?
