Crusaders are delighted to announce the signing of 23-year-old midfielder Finley Thorndike on a two-year contract.
Thorndike, who joins from Glentoran, made 29 appearances last season in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 6 assists. Known for his vision, close control, and work rate, he will bring added creativity and depth to Declan Caddell’s midfield.
A product of the Birmingham City Academy, Thorndike progressed through the youth ranks before spending time with Aston Villa's U23s, where he was a standout performer in the Premier League 2. He later returned to the EFL Championship with Birmingham’s senior squad, making his first-team debut in 2021, before moving to Northern Ireland.
Standing at 6ft tall, Thorndike offers a strong physical presence in midfield and is comfortable playing both centrally and in more advanced roles. Still only 23, he brings a mix of experience and untapped potential.
Speaking about his move to Seaview, Thorndike said:
