Crusaders Football Club are pleased to announce the loan signing of Ipswich Town central defender Cameron Stewart. The Northern Ireland U21 squad member goes into the side immediately and has enjoyed a training session with his new team mates already. Cameron joins Crusaders until the end of the season and will wear squad number 16.

Cameron, who hails from Ballymena, joined Ipswich Town in 2019 and signed a professional deal last July has gone from strength to strength with the Championship club and is a regular in the U23’s with sights on the first team next. His time at Crusaders is seen by Ipswich Town as crucial to his development and will watch that with close interest.

Cameron is excited to join Crusaders and told the website before training “ I am delighted. I came into training last week and all the boys where top class so I am really happy to get it over the line. I have been playing for Ipswich now for three and a half years and I was looking a loan and I thought Crusaders was the perfect match for me" Cameron Added on his development “I need mens football to try and break into the first team at Ipswich so that's what I really am trying to do here. I hope to get into the team as soon as possible and making an impression”

Manager Stephen Baxter is equally overjoyed and said of the signing “ We are thrilled and delighted that we can attract such talent to Crusaders. Cameron has been at Ipswich for a few years now and he has been outstanding. We have been talking to their head of recruitment academy and he comes across with huge potential. He has been training around their first team in his first couple of years over at Ipswich and they see that he needs to get out to get the experience of mens football" Stephen added “His development has been well mapped out, He is a really top player and they are looking to get that experience behind him so they can develop him even further.. They actually chose Crusaders as well which is a big feather in our cap that we can attract a player of this stature and magnitude so we hope he can really do well and he will be given the platform and opportunity to do that”

It is great they actually chose Crusaders as well We would like to wish Cameron every success in Red and Black over the coming months and we know Crusaders supporters will give him their full backing as we push on in the Premiership and Irish Cup. Welcome to Seaview.
