Crusaders FC is excited to announce significant changes within the coaching staff of its Boy's and Girls Academy, aimed at further enhancing player development and fostering a winning culture within the club.
Jordan Owens, the Crusaders' all-time leading goalscorer, has been promoted to Head of Coaching within the Boy's Academy. Owens, whose legendary goal secured victory for the team in the European Play-Off Final against Coleraine on May Day, will assume his new role in June while continuing to represent the club on the field. Additionally, Owens will step away from his managerial duties with the Crusaders u18 team, with Jimmy Callacher taking over the reins.
Manager Declan Caddell expressed his delight at these changes, emphasizing the invaluable contributions of Owens and Callacher to the club's success. He wished them both well in their new roles and expressed confidence in their abilities to drive the development of young talent at the Shore Road Club.
In a parallel move, Heather Mearns will transition into the role of Head of Coaching within the Girls Academy. Mearns will collaborate closely with Owens to establish a unified philosophy of play, identify emerging talent, and provide mentorship to coaches. This strategic appointment underscores Crusaders' commitment to nurturing talent across genders and creating a pathway for success within the club.
These appointments pave the way for the creation of a new position: Full-Time Academy Operations Manager. This role will oversee the day-to-day management of both the Boy's and Girls Academy, ensuring seamless operations and optimal support for players, coaches & parents.
Crusaders FC is excited about the future prospects of its Academy and will provide further details on additional restructuring appointments in the coming weeks.
