Crusaders Beat Linfield 2-1 At Seaview

16th Sep 2022

Crusaders out played and out muscled Linfield at Seaview on Friday night coming from behind to beat the Danske Bank Premiership champions 2-1 in an action packed second half after a poor first half. The thoughts of everyone though are with Josh Robinson who suffered a bad injury and was taken from the field on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to hospital with yet unknown injuries.

The first half was a pretty tame affair with the best chance falling to Joel Cooper but Johnny Tuffey made a fantastic save to deny him.

The second half exploded into life after just two minutes when Joel Cooper volleyed home from five yards unchallenged to put Linfield ahead but Crusaders did not panic and set about their game plan. This was rewarded when Philip Lowry poked the ball home through a crowded six yard box on 59 minutes to equalise and as both sides went “toe to toe” Crusaders began to dominate and again got exactly what they deserved when Jordan Forsythe scored what turned out to be the winner on 83 minutes. The game though ended on a sad note when Josh Robinson was stretchered off with a bad facial injury and when play resumed Linfield did not have an answer and Crusaders collected the thre epoints to go joint first in the table.
