It was with great sadness we have learnt of the passing of Carrick Rangers stalwart David Hilditch.
David was a great friend to Crusaders Football Club both through football and privately and anyone who knew him would say he held Northern Ireland Football close to his heart. He held numerous positions at Carrick Rangers from Chairman, Secretary, Safety Officer and Board member to name a few but for wider football family he was very vocal in his role as an MLA at Stormont and fought for game at every opportunity.
On hearing of David's passing Chairman Ronnie Millar said “ The Hilditch family have lost a great man who will be remembered by everyone in the years ahead with great fondness. David was always one of the first to great us at games many many times down at Carrick Rangers ground and would also be a great presence in our own boardroom at Seaview when Carrick Rangers visited. He was ”amber and black" through and through but also a good friend to all clubs when it came to any advice he could give and everyone will miss him greatly. His personality was infectious and a large part of him and this is why he was such a delightful man to know"
To Davids family Crusaders Chairman Ronnie Millar added"On behalf of everyone at Crusaders we offer deepest sympathies to his immediate family and wider family circle at this sad time and to Carrick Rangers also we offer condolences at losing a big part of the Club. Can I ask we keep them all in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time."
At Rest.
