There are sinply no words left to describe our captain that have not already been said and we will salute the man on Sunday as we welcome Salford City to Seaview to play in his well deserved testimonial (3pm)
Billy Joe Burns has played 423 games and scored 33 goals since joining Crusaders from Linfield in May 2014 and his dedication to us has been nothing short of amazing playing through the pain barrier, putting his body on the line, scoring some great goals and getting the last ditch tackle in to stop a goal going in being part and parcel of his game. His classy runs forward and his unique partnership with fellow players, Gavin Whyte in particular, have made him a fans favourite and a name on the team sheet first to many times to mention.
We will stand and greet a man who has been part of three Premiership titles, three Irish Cup wins, two Co.Antrim Shield wins and two Charity Shield wins and has been a driving force in many squads throughout his ten years and counting. On a personal level he also won the Ulster Footballer of the Year and NIFWA Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season and numerous awards from Crusaders Supporters Clubs. He has been on European duties in eight seasons he has been signed so far also and who can forget his european goals against Basel and Magpies on two incredible nights at Seaview.
Billy Joe Burns is a man who deserves his day so come to Seaview on Sunday and give him a big welcome as he is given a guard of honour onto Seaview pitch. A pitch he has graced with distinction.
