Ballyclare Comrades v Crusaders. BetMcLean Cup. Tuesday 1st October

1st Oct 2024

It is a different competition on Tuesday night but the aims are the same as we make the short trip to Ballyclare to play Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park (7.45pm) in the BetMcLean Cup 1st Round. Cup competitions are a different animal as it is straight knockout but manager Declan Caddell is determined to aim high and will field a strong side. Ballyclare Comrades will be looking to take a big scalp early in the competition and will be up for such a big game making it a very interesting battle ahead.

Manger Declan Caddell will field a side that he feels will be capable of winning this game and he has promised in the past he will field strong teams as he looks to win as much as possible. We may see some tweaks in the starting XI but by no means will they take Ballyclare Comrades with a "pinch of salt" Jordan Stewart is back training and may get a nod while Josh Williamson, who made his competitive debut last Saturday, should also get a start again. Jordan Owens or Stewart Nixonbmay be in the frame to give Kieran Offord or Harry Franklin a rest while Mal Smith is another who could start after building fitness in the reserves. James Teelan and Billy Vance are in with a good shout to star  while Jonny James, Karter Bond and Bradley may make the bench as well.

Championship side Ballyclare Comrades currently sit in ninth place in the table with 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats so far this season. Manger Stephen Small will park that form for one night and ask his side to step up to another level and play the game of their lives as they go positively in the game.

So all set for a what looks to be a decent game and we need you with us. It's a cash gate with Adults £10 & Concession £5 payable at the turnstile. Get yourself out for the evening and be the 12th man as the team look to win a competition they last won in 2012. C'mon the Crues.
